HARMONY HOLISTIC THERAPIES

Chakras

The chakra system comprises of seven chakras or centres located along a central channel of energy running from the top or crown of the head along the spine to the base of the spine or coccyx. The chakra centres draw in the ki or chi energy and distribute it along smaller energy channels known as nadis.

Each of the seven chakras has a direct relationship with the physical body it is located in as well as the emotional and psychological state of a person.

Our emotional development through life starts at the root or base chakra with each chakra taking approximately 7 years to develop. After this period we move upwards and on to the next chakra along the channel. The cycle continues to our 49th year when the crown chakra is developed after which the process or cycle returns once again to the root chakra.

Emotional, psychological problems and traumas may cause blockages or a build of ki or chi and a reiki session aims to unblock and rebalance the flow of energy.
The table below gives a brief outline of each chakra, its location, meaning and the physical and emotional areas linked to it.
